Ships and boats are used for this type of transportation. It matches well with goods that are large in size, not easily damaged and need to be delivered over a long distance. The delivery timeframe is lengthy and unpredictable due to factors such as climate or landscape. Water transportation is mainly used in international transportation similar to air transportation but at a much lower cost.

Pipeline Transportation

This type of transportation transports goods in a form of liquid and gas such as water supply and petrol through pipelines. These pipelines can be laid above ground, underground or under water. Some major benefits of this type of transportation is reduction in cost and time and the ability to estimate the time of goods arrival. However, it is also worth noting that it requires high initial investment, finding any defects can be difficult and does not fit well in an area where earthquake is frequent.
All of these 4 types of transportation provide customer with convenient choices that cover almost all kinds of goods on the market. However, there has been a recent development of another type of transportation called door-to-door service to provide clients with even more convenient. This type of service refers to a service where a service provider picks up goods from one customer’s doorstep and delivers it to the other customer’s doorstep. This provides a great level of convenience to both sender and receiver in terms of fixed cost of delivery, save on both time and fees in processing the item of delivery.
